Mission statement

To advance and disseminate knowledge, innovation and skills development in the life-sciences sector, through collaborative reasoning and multidisciplinary educational initiatives that translate regulatory standards of good practice into day-to-day excellence.  

Rationale

The Academy for Patient Centred Excellence and Innovation in Regulatory Sciences was set up to serve as a key platform within the portfolio of the Malta Medicines Authority, through which educational planning and academic development unfold, enabling the delivery of training that is tailored to the evolving needs of stakeholders.  The established framework is intended to portend mutual benefits to regulators, policy makers, industry, professionals and society at large.

Aims & Objectives

  • To establish an ecosystem which merges research, education and best practices in science-based endeavours within a regulatory environment.
  • To offer a networking forum with a vision for excellence in science and technology.
  • To strengthen national and international collaboration in priority areas.
  • To design and organise training courses, embracing new trends and developments.
  • To provide for continuous education through interaction with experts in innovative spheres.
  • To sustain opportunities that facilitate the exchange of views, enhancing competence and overcoming emerging challenges through collaborative reasoning.
  • To disseminate scientific acumen and stimulate innovative research initiatives.
  • To support continuous quality improvement in processes and services, and spearhead community empowerment.

 ‘Upcoming Course:  Award in Applied Good Manufacturing Practice and Pharmaceutical Quality 

 

 

A comprehensive course designed to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) landscape, understand current trends and appreciate the evolving roles and responsibilities within pharmaceutical quality, including that of the Qualified Person (QP). GMP principles are brought to life through dynamic, case-based sessions covering key areas such as sterile and non-sterile manufacturing, quality risk management, qualification and validation, data integrity and documentation practices. This approach enables learners to apply GMP effectively in daily operations while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Award in Cannabis for Medicinal and Research Purposes

A three-day course offering a comprehensive overview of the regulatory, analytical, and clinical aspects of medicinal cannabis. Covering biochemistry, pharmacology, legal frameworks, quality standards (GACP, GMP, GDP), and security protocols, it provides essential knowledge for professionals in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and research.  Award in Medical Devices

A three-day course intended to convey solid theoretical grounding in tandem with practice-oriented implementation of key principles and requirements emanating from the recently established European Medical Device and In-Vitro Diagnostic Regulations along with recognised standards and guidelines. It endeavours to provide a networking forum for the dissemination of scientific acumen and best practices, steering the translation of pertinent provisions into day-to-day excellence and high-quality healthcare solutions. Award in Good Manufacturing Practice

A three-day course intended to deliver the essentials of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) as applicable to products intended for medicinal and research purposes and provide a networking forum for the sharing of knowledge, national and international collaboration and advancement of individual aptitudes in the field of GMP.  Further details available through the course information sheet.

A four-day course intended to convey solid grounding on core aspects of Good Distribution Practice (GDP), crucial for upholding quality and integrity of pharmaceutical products throughout the supply chain. Award in Pharmacovigilance

Award in Medication Management Basics

A four-day course offering a comprehensive foundational knowledge, practical skills and essential competences required for safe and effective medication management across various healthcare settings. This course caters for support staff in healthcare including residential care workers, managerial staff in care homes, community support workers and nursing aides.
